This page exists because Meta requires it
If you signed in to CookSth using a Facebook account and then chose to disconnect, Facebook wants us to tell you exactly how to get your data removed from our side. This page does that. The same instructions apply whether you signed up with email, Google, or Facebook.
What we actually have on file
If you signed up, the entire footprint we hold for you is:
- Your email address (used to sign in).
- A name, if you provided one.
- A reference to your Google or Facebook account, if you signed in via one of them.
- A counter of how many recipes you have generated, used only to enforce the daily limit.
- An internal association between your account and the recipes you generated, so we can show you your own history.
We do not have a profile photo, we do not have your friends list, we do not have any post history, we do not have payment information.
How to request deletion
- 1
Email us from the address on your account
Send a one-line message to [email protected] asking us to delete your account. The email must come from the address tied to your CookSth account (or, if you signed in with Google or Facebook, the address associated with that account). This is how we confirm it is really you.
- 2
We confirm receipt within 3 business days
You will receive a reply acknowledging the request. If we need anything else to identify the account, we ask for it then. No follow-up email means no follow-up needed.
- 3
We delete within 30 days
Within 30 days we permanently delete the row that contains your email, your name, and your linked Google/Facebook identifier. The session cookie on your device is invalidated. We email a final confirmation when it is done.
About the recipes you generated
Recipes themselves remain in the public collection after your account is deleted, because the page does not display your identity in the first place and they are part of the site's editorial corpus. The internal link between you and those recipes is severed, so nothing can be traced back to your account. If you would prefer specific recipes to be removed entirely from the public site, list their URLs in the same email and we will take them down with the account.
Disconnecting on the Facebook side
To stop CookSth from being able to read your Facebook profile in the future, you can also revoke our app's permission directly in your Facebook settings — Settings & Privacy → Settings → Apps and Websites → Active → CookSth → Remove. Doing that alone does NOT delete your CookSth account; you still need to email us to remove the data on our side.
